Earth Day has been celebrated every April 22nd since 1970. The main aim of Earth Day is to raise awareness on the negative impact our actions as mankind have on our environment and earth as a whole, and is a day for political action and civic participation. This year’s theme is ‘End Plastic Pollution’. This year, we celebrate the  50th anniversary of Earth Day  on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. The connection that we have to nature, plants, and the land is integral to our health and all that we are. Earth Day reminds us to take care of our planet—whether it’s cleaning up litter, planting more trees, recycling and repurposing, or going on a walk in a green space amidst the wildflowers.

The fight against the pandemic COVID-19 has necessitated drastic measures to be taken. Needless to say, these are challenging times that we are living in. This is why  students and teachers are relying on online classes and courses to stay engaged during the covid19lockdown. For students those who are anxious about the impact of the lockdown on their studies can benefit from the online classes. Apart from academic pursuits, there are other productive ways to spend the free time at hand. The extended lockdown has opened up opportunities for people to re-kindle their love for reading. Books which have been the primary source of education and an excellent habit that has faded owing to lifestyle changes and the advent of social media. Now is the time to finally read that book you’ve been meaning to read for a while now or to re-read a favourite book or novel. Spending time with books is one activity that is unlikely to cause one with a sense of satisfaction.
